Former Chipotle Manager Awarded Millions in Wrongful Termination Suit

A California jury recently awarded former Chipotle manager, Jeannette Ortiz, around $8 million in damages for wrongful termination. The jury found that Ortiz was falsely accused of stealing, and was subsequently wrongfully terminated in retaliation for her filing of a worker’s compensation claim following an on the job injury to her wrist. Ortiz’s boss claimed to have video evidence of the theft incident but later told Ortiz the video was destroyed when Ortiz requested to see the footage.
