IRS and DOT Clarify New COBRA Deadlines Related to Ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic

On Wednesday, October 6, 2021, the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Treasury released guidance concerning the latest COBRA deadlines in connection with the ongoing pandemic. The guidance, which has been concurred by the Department of Labor and Health and Human Services, clarifies the new COBRA deadlines for signing up and paying for coverage. As of now, the new deadline allows applicants one year plus 45 days to make the first premium payment. Learn more about the new deadline and what it means.
