Sixteen North Carolina restaurants are asking for the North Carolina Supreme Court to step in and decide if their insurer owes coverage for pandemic-related losses. The restaurants were the first to win a pandemic-related lawsuit against their insurer when a North Carolina judge ruled in favor of the restaurants in October 2020. The insurer appealed the decision and attorneys for the group of restaurants say that if the higher courts don’t step in, these restaurants and other small businesses could lose their businesses for good.
