Rapid flooding causing many Californians to seek higher ground

California is in the midst of a long fight against floods as storms continue to roll in off the Pacific, causing destruction and loss of life. Many towns have issued evacuation orders while highways and schools are closed. As global warming causes increasingly extreme weather, Californians are now facing both a drought and a flood emergency at the same time. Evacuations are taking place in areas of Santa Cruz County and Wilton as rivers rise, with warnings also posted for avalanches through the Sierra Nevada.
