Salon Agrees to $1.75 Million Settlement After Infection from Pedicure Led to Amputation

A Florida nail salon, Tammy’s Nails 2, reached a $1.75 million settlement agreement with a customer who lost a leg due to infection after a pedicure. Clara Shellman went to the salon for a pedicure in September 2018. The manicurist cut her foot during the service. The injury became infected and eventually led to the amputation of the leg. Shellman’s peripheral arterial disease contributed to the spread of infection. After having her leg amputated, Shellman lost her home and had to move in with relatives to receive additional care.
