A Missouri woman filed suit against a former boyfriend who she claims infected her with HPV, the human papillomavirus, during unprotected sex in his car. She notified his auto insurer, Geico, that she was seeking monetary damages. The woman, referred to as M.O. in court documents, claims her former partner knew he had HPV before their sexual relationship yet failed to disclose that information or take precautions to protect against transmission. An arbitrator with the Jackon County Circuit Court ruled in M.O.’s favor and awarded $5.2 million in damages. The Missouri Court of Appeals upheld the decision.
